The circular also mentioned that the teachers have to purchase the Khadi items from two particular outlets. The circular states that as part of the collective Khadi purchase event, all principals and teachers need of buy Khadi items, individually spending Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500. They were further asked to finish their shopping and send the receipts on WhatsApp by 1 pm!
A press release by the education department claimed that the department has purchased Khadi items worth more than Rs1 crore in a single day. Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma said the department had celebrated Gandhi Jayanti is a unique way. More than 20,000 teachers across the state had purchased Khadi items.
